Release notes

What's new in Hatcel

Every release, newest first: what changed, and what it means at your venue.

Hatcel 2

Hatcel 2 is a new build of the whole product. It is faster, it has a new interface on every screen, and it adds Draft and Publish, eleven Insights reports, the Hatcel pixel and a public API.

01 · Under the hood

A stronger base for everything

We rebuilt the foundations of Hatcel. You do not see most of this work. You see the result: a product that is faster, more reliable and the same on every screen.

Faster screens

A screen opens complete, with no half-drawn page. Records start to load when you point at a link.

Fewer faults

Each new error goes to a board that our team checks every day. We often fix a problem before you see it.

One home for each rule

Prices, tax, payments and capacity are each worked out in one place, so the calendar, booking page and reports always agree.

One word for one thing

The product uses one list of words. A guest is a guest on every screen, so your staff learn one name for each thing.

Built from shared parts

Every screen uses the same tables, cards and controls. One improvement reaches every screen at the same time.

Records at their own address

Each booking, customer and order has its own page and link. Open it in a new tab, or send it to a colleague.

02 · A new interface

One layout for every screen

Each screen has the same top bar, the same search and the same controls. When your team learns one screen, they know all of them.

The calendar on a Saturday, with bookings across eight kart tracks
The calendar on a peak day. The bar at the bottom shows the hours, the spot length and how full the day is.
  • Venue and day in the top bar. Select a venue and a date, and the calendar shows that day.

  • Day sheet. A list of the day's bookings, tasks and notes.

  • Search. Type a name, an email or a booking number to find a booking or an event.

  • Peak days. The calendar marks a busy day, so your team can prepare.

  • Payment state. A coin on a booking shows that money is still due.

  • Live for everyone. When one person changes a booking, every open calendar shows the change.

  • The email builder. Build every customer email, the automatic ones too, from ready-made blocks in your brand.

  • Desktop and mobile. See each email at both sizes, and send a test to yourself first.

03 · Booking pages and portal

Your brand on every customer page

Your booking pages and your customer portal have a new design. Both use your brand: your logo, colours, fonts and shapes. Set it once, and every booking page, the portal and your emails use it.

  • A few colours. Pick your button, highlight, accent, background and border colours. Hatcel works out every other colour.

  • Light or dark. Show your pages always light, always dark, or in the customer's own setting.

  • Bigger photos. Your photos lead each page, with a gallery on each product.

  • Next available. The product page shows the next free times at each venue.

  • Clear prices. Each guest type has its own price card, per person.

  • Built for phones. Each step fits a phone screen, with the price and the next button always in view.

  • Trust. Ratings, reviews and "You won't be charged yet" help customers continue.

  • The customer portal. Customers see their bookings, wallet and family in one place, with Book on every page.

04 · Booking page SEO

Control how each page shows on Google

Each booking page has its own settings for its address and for how it shows on Google. Open them from the page's row in Booking pages.

The settings for one booking page: name, address and links, then page title, description, sharing image and Show in Google
The settings for one booking page.
  • Your own address. Change the address of each page, for example a short one for a flyer. Copy the customer link in one click.

  • Page title. Write the title that shows in the browser tab, on Google and in shared links.

  • Description. Write the line that shows under the title on Google.

  • Sharing image. Choose the image that shows when someone shares the link.

  • Show in Google. Show a page in Google, or hide it. A hidden page still works for anyone with the link.

  • Safe to change. Each change saves as a draft. Customers see it only when you publish.

05 · Draft and Publish

Nothing goes live until you publish

Every change to what your customers see now saves as a draft first. You check the change on your real booking page, then publish it now or at a time that you set.

  1. 1

    Save a change

Change a product, a collection, your brand or a booking page, and press Save. The change waits as a draft, and customers still see the live version.

The top bar shows how many draft changes wait. You can undo one change at a time.

The product name is changed. The change is a draft, and it is not live yet.
  2. 2

    Preview it

Open your booking page with all the drafts in place. A bar at the top shows how many changes you see.

Bookings are off in a preview, so nobody can book by mistake. Only signed-in staff can open a preview.

  3. 3

    Publish, or schedule

See each changed field, before and after. Publish puts every draft live at the same moment, so customers never see half a change.

Schedule sets a date and a time at your venue, for a new season or a promotion.

Draft changes: every field, before and after, with Publish and Schedule.
  4. 4

See the history, and roll back

Deployments lists each release, with what changed, who published it and when.

Roll back makes a draft that returns the old values. You check it and publish it like any other change.

The Deployments table with a draft at the top and published releases below

Saves as a draft

Products, packages, events, gift cards, add-ons, collections, badges, snippets, questions, photos, your brand, booking pages and booking preferences.

Changes at once

Pausing a product, cancelling an event date, opening hours, holidays and taking an asset out of use. You can always stop a sale at once.

06 · Insights

Eleven reports to understand your venue

Insights is rebuilt. Each report answers one question about your sales, your customers or your website. Select a venue and a period in the top bar, and every report uses them.

  • Compare periods. Each figure shows its change against the previous period.

  • One venue or all. See one venue, or all your venues together.

  • The same figures everywhere. Each figure is worked out one way, so two reports never disagree.

  • Find a booking. The Bookings report lists each booking in the period.

07 · The Hatcel pixel

See which customers looked at your website

The Hatcel pixel records visits to your own website. When a customer opens a link from your emails or texts, Hatcel knows who they are, so you can follow up with the people who looked but did not book.

  1. 1

    Copy your code

Open Marketing, then Pixel. Your workspace has its own Pixel ID. Press Copy code.

  2. 2

    Paste it one time

Paste the code into the header setting of your website. Wix, Squarespace, WordPress and Google Tag Manager all have one.

  3. 3

    Know who looked

Every link in your emails and texts carries a secure key. When a customer opens one, their visits join their customer record.

  4. 4

    Follow up

Use the people who looked in your campaigns and automations.

  • Your sites only. The pixel accepts visits only from the domains you verified in Settings.

  • No bots. Hatcel ignores search engines, robots and automated browsers.

  • No personal data in addresses. Hatcel keeps the page, not the rest of the address.

  • Your other tags still work. Your Google and Meta tags keep counting your pages as before.

Active on website

A segment of customers seen on your website in the last 30 days.

Browsed but not booked

A segment of customers who looked in the last 7 days and made no booking.

Browsed but did not book

An automation that sends an email or a text a few hours after they leave.

Visited a page

A condition for any automation, for example a page with "birthday" in its address.

08 · Security and permissions

Your data, your rules, enforced in the database

Hatcel 2 protects your data at every level: in the database, on each screen and on each device at your counter. Set what each job role can do, area by area, and give each team member a job role.

A job role named Admin, with an Access table of areas and View, Create, Edit and Delete columns
A job role. Each row is an area of Hatcel, and each column is an action.
Rules in the database

A job role does more than hide a button. The database itself refuses an action that the role does not allow.

Your data stays yours

Every table in the database has its own access rules. Only your team can read your workspace's data.

Shared counter devices

A shared tablet locks itself. Each person unlocks it with their own PIN.

Safe customer sign-in

A sign-in link works one time only.

Protected gift cards

The public balance check stops bots and limits the number of tries.

Who did what

Each record stores who made it and who changed it last.

09 · The Hatcel API

Connect your own software

The Hatcel API lets your other systems read your Hatcel data and keep your customers up to date. Make and manage keys in Settings, then Developers.

Control each key

Read-only or read-and-write access, an expiry date, and stop a key at any time.

Test before you go live

Use a test key while your developer builds, then change to a live key.

Full documentation

A quickstart, guides, a reference for each record, and how to connect an AI agent.

10 · Live system status

See if each part of Hatcel works now

The status page checks each service every 30 seconds: the API, the platform, payments and messages. You do not need to sign in.

11 · Support guides

Help for every screen

The support guides tell your team how to use Hatcel at your venue: an overview of each feature, the steps for each task, the facts about each field, and what to do when something does not work.
